Most people know Deepak Chopra for his books about reaching a higher consciousness. But he is in fact a medical doctor. Dr. Chopra writes a lot about medicine and healing. His column runs regularly on countless Websites.
Recently, Chopra covered arthritis and why some people experience pain more than others. It's a fascinating piece. Like many doctors and studies that have been done about how the body ages, the conclusion is staying active is better for your mind and body.
"The more you use your muscles, for example, the stronger they become; they do not wear out. Nor do we see that two people leading the same active life develop bad hips or knees at the same time or to equal severity. In fact, it is disuse that leads to muscle weakness and atrophy," writes Chopra.
